In the morning, drop your child off at the farm entrance for a morning gathering circle. They will begin their day fully immersed in the sensory experience of the Educational farm, shadowing high school farmers to learn about the production of organically grown crops. Students will participate in the essential tasks of the production farm such as seeding, transplanting, pruning, harvesting, amending soils, harvesting and watering. Throughout the day, students are face to face with native pollinating insects and the fresh botanical aroma of the surrounding living ecosystem.
As lunch time approaches, students will wander through the high tunnels selecting only the ripest fruits from their vines in preparation of a communal luncheon. Students are encouraged to prepare a snack using farm produce accompanied by ingredients from local food producers and recipes from local chefs. Using our outdoor kitchen on the farm, we will cook up delicious food. Each day our lunch will be picnic style on the farm overlooking the pollinator habitat. Students will be required to bring lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and on Thursdays, we will be making a farm to table meal.
Following their farm to table lunch, students will take a stroll to our headquarters where they will cool off and focus on exciting projects. Students will be guided to make inspiring items which they will be able to bring home and share with families. Projects include, botanical soap, garden chia pets, natural plant tie dye clothing, plantable native seed paper, pressed flower lantern lights, and farm to table cooking.
Please pack plenty of water, appropriate clothing and footwear for farm activities.
Allergy information: Bees and other stinging insects are present on the farm.

Join the Young Farmer Program this July and August! At Cornucopia Project Educational Farm, the garden is our classroom and our days will be spent outside exploring, cooking and creating in nature!
Guided by our Education Director, Olivia Clark, and our team of High School Student Farmers, your young farmer will explore the ins and outs of working on an organic vegetable farm. Each week, students will learn new skills such as seedling propagation, insect ID, and how to prepare and save a harvest from farm-to-table. Through art, culinary and hands on farm work, your child will be inspired for a lifetime of healthy eating!
Weather Considerations. Our farm is exposed to the elements. Children must come prepared with appropriate clothing, sunblock, a hat, food and drinks. If unexpected severe weather occurs, we will utilize our nearby headquarters building space for farm-related projects. If you need help with providing any of the necessary items these please let us know and we will seek to supply them.
Scholarships are available. If a scholarship will make this summer program accessible for your child please select your scholarship below. If you have any questions, please email us at Admin@cornucopiaproject.org.
