Pumpkin, Long Pie
Heirloom likely of Wabanaki heritage. The best pumpkin (says LM). Fruits look like overgrown zucchini on a full length vine. Can be harvested once the ground spot glows orange, like an acorn squash, but should stay on the vine as long as possible. Fruits will eventually turn a rusty orange in storage. High quality flesh is like a less sweet delicata – and just as smooth. Not disease resistant and the crop will not perform well in all years, but worth a try!
