Farm To School Program

johnNutrition will take on new meaning in 2013.  Students in the ConVal School District will have an opportunity to feed their bodies and minds while supporting local economies thanks to a Cornucopia Project initiative.  Eleven local farmers are now growing vegetables and meat for school cafeterias.

As the schools begin to integrate these local food sources into their menus, we will incorporate programs such as "get to know your farmer", cooking and nutrition classes, and tasting events.

This initiative will compliment the standards-based classroom curriculum and school gardens the Cornucopia Project currently has in place.

Thanks to the ConVal School District and our local farmers for these collaborative efforts in helping increase consumption of healthy and local food.
